Compassionate Living
Food for thought: "The smallest thing you actually do means more than what you plan to do, but never do."Compassionate living is more than just a thought or a phrase. It is a daily practice that requires conscious choices, increased awareness and continual growth. Principles of compassionate living can be applied to the food that we eat, the decisions that we make, the products that we purchase, the words that we use, the actions that we take and ultimately the life that we live.
Each individual has the power within them to live a kind and compassionate life. It may seem difficult at times, but each thoughtful action, no matter how small, contributes to the collective effort in some way. Rather than acting out of habit or complacency, compassionate living opens our minds and our hearts to consider the consequences of our actions. When we realize that we are accountable for them, we change our way of thinking from how this will benefit me, to how this will benefit the planet. We also become conscious about the negative effects of our actions, even if they are not immediately apparent. Sometimes the answer may not be just black or white, but a totally different option that is in line with what we believe in. When compassionate thinking is applied, a new habit forms that naturally becomes a part of everything we do.
