Green Living - Gifts
Gifts are a great way to educate people about alternative and earth-friendly products, especially since many of them are not wanted and end up in the closet. Here a few gift ideas
that don’t contribute to this waste of resources:
- Make a gift basket (without a plastic wrap) that contains organic and fair-trade
treats and items such as coffee, tea, chocolate and recycled paper products.
- Give a gift certificate to a natural foods store or vegan restaurant so people can try it.
- Give a gift certificate for a massage or personal training session.
- Help someone out by giving them a gift certificate for future child care sessions, companion animal care or other service. They will certainly appreciate your thoughtfulness.
- Give used cd’s, dvd’s and books instead of new ones.
- Give eco-friendly gifts, such as energy-efficient light bulbs so people are encouraged to use them.
- Give a thoughtful gift by donating to organizations that help humans, animals and the environment in someone else’s name.
- Don’t forget about the wrapping paper. Use alternatives such as reusable cloth gift bags or recycled colored newspaper. Get creative with your gift presentation.
There are too many gift ideas to name them all. Now that you get the idea, think of what you can do the next time the situation arises.
